Hey everyone! So usually today is Grant’s favorite day of the year – the kick off to Aggie Football season haha! I still remember when we had only been dating a few months (we started dating the beginning of the Fall 2014) telling Grant congrats because he survived dating me during Holiday season. At that time I had a storefront and was basically married to my business. He quickly responded with, “and you survived dating me during football season.” I didn’t quite understand how serious he was then, but I sure do now!
This is actually the first home Aggie Football game Grant and I will miss since we have been together. We both have big important trips lined up, but we are so excited for next Saturday’s home game. Since the subject of this blog is going to be about marriage and relationships, plus it’s the kick off to Aggie Football season, I figured I would share images from our Kyle Field session. Yes, I psychotically made us be bride and groom again a month after we were married so I could give Grant his beloved Aggie Football Field images. He wanted us to get married on Kyle Field, but we all now know we actually got married somewhere else. (I really do think the girl almost always wins the wedding venue dispute lol) But, I wasn’t able to get the lights turned on at Kyle Field on our wedding night (however I did surprise Grant by having our getaway car take us to Kyle Field after we were hitched) and I couldn’t stop thinking that Grant would be the cutest little 75 year old man in his man cave one day showing off these pics. So I knew I had to make it happen!
So I had the old Tammy Wynette song “Stand By Your Man” stuck in my head last night as I was falling asleep. I really feel it was a sign from God to share a new and updated marriage focused blog for my followers. Our marriage isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, but it’s the most valuable and worthy task I have ever pursued!
“The bottom line is that marriage is just a long-term opportunity to practice loving someone even when they might not deserve it. Because most of the time, your messy, farting, macaroni-and-cheese eating man will not be doing what you want him to. But as you give him love anyway – because you have made up your mind to transform yourself into a person who is practicing being kind, deep, virtuous, truthful, giving, and most of all, accepting of your own dear self – you will find that you will experience the very thing you wanted all along: LOVE!!!” – the ending to Tracy McMillan’s famous “Why You’re Not Married” article featured on Huff Post. This article is worth the read no matter what you relationship status is!
I know not all my followers are married or in relationships. Actually, a good bit are actually still single. But one thing that remains constant whether you’re in a relationship with only yourself or with someone else – YOU have to love yourself FIRST!!! Did you know you’re only capable of loving someone else as much as you love yourself? Even if you WANT to love someone else more than you love yourself, your actions will revert back to how you treat yourself. How’s that for some honest talk???
In haven’t been married for quite 2 years and still have A LOT to learn, so I’m sharing some of my favorite blogs that focus on successful marriage and relationships below. Because what is it worth to build that Fortune 500 Company or to land that dream job if you don’t have anybody to share it with as you grow old?
I remember when I was launching my lifestyle blog I wanted to be known as a blogger who promoted marriage over business. Making Grant my #1 priority over anything else. Goodness, my 23 year old self would literally gag at the thought that I would ever publicly say something like that. But I really do believe the older we get, the more we realize we still have to learn. I believe these blogs linked below are worthy of more reads and exposure. Some of the articles within them have helped me, and hopefully they can help someone else!
Now I love me a good mirror selfie, but I feel social media should encourage more love, support, community, REAL relationships and marriages rather than just being a visual focused platform whee it’s easy to “slide into someone’s DM’s”, so I’m just doing my part today on my little space on the internet.
Photos are by the talented Luke and Cat! My hair and makeup was done by Hey Lovely Makeup, and they also did my wedding day makeup! You can see more images from our actual wedding HERE. Cheers to, Aggie Football Season, a lifetime together with the biggest fan I’ve ever known, and to creating the most positive space on the world wide web!
Here’s a more Kyle Field images of us from last season’s Southern Jewlz shoot by James Barrett Photography!
