Hey everybody! I wanted to share one of mine and Grant’s favorite new date night spots: Poppy Farm to Fire Restaurant in the new Century Square here in College Station. Poppy is George Bush’s nickname, and that’s where the name originates!
They focus on fresh and farm raised ingredients from local farmers. Grant and I have now been twice and we can’t wait to go back! The portions are smaller sizes, so I usually eat 3-4 things on the menu and Grant 4-5. So together we usually get 3-4 appetizers, each an entree and then a dessert or two. It is a fine dining place, but not with a stuffy feel. It would even be a great place for a happy hour or just to meet for appetizers before going somewhere else for dinner if you like to hop around.
I even treated myself to a cute new top for date night. Grant loves an open and low back, so he loved this shirt. You can see the back detail here. Fun fact, whenever we were engaged he would tag me on wedding dress photos on instagram. They were all long sleeve, very form fitted and very open and low back. I clearly got the hint what Grant would have picked if I would have taken him shopping with me, lol, but now I try to incorporate a low back into my date night looks for him!
On the right is Grant’s favorite appetizer there. It’s the tuna tatami. The wasabi powder sprinkled on top is super yummy!
The evening we went, they had an odd the menu halibut appetizer and I loved it! I am so into white fluffy fish these days.
Here is a sample of what our main courses looked like. The beef filet was a 6 oz plate for $14 (I think a super great price) and the bottom was a Hawaiian Monchong. Don’t worry, I had never heard of this white fluffy fish either, but I’m so glad I took the waiter’s recommendation and tried it.
Here is a visual of what the restaurant looks like. The cutest furniture pieces and the walls are all windows. It’s beautiful to sit and watch the sunset from inside!
Anyways, if you like to try out new spots for date night, I highly recommend Poppy Restaurant! If you go, please let them know I sent ya! I would really like to do some future blog work for them to help them grow as a business, because I really do love what this place brings to College Station!
