The above photo was taken after 12 weeks of my fitness program by GT Studio Gallery.  My hair and makeup was done by Versy Picone.  I am now carrying less fat and more muscle dimension after continuing the program for over 6 months now!

Hey everyone!  I hope everyone had a fabulous and productive Monday.  I shared my late night Sunday thoughts with y’all last night on ways to increase happiness.  If you didn’t see that post, I would really LOVE if you gave that one a read.  It might help the start of your week sparkle a little more with a positive mindset kind of post!

It’s time for us to talk a little more about my healthy lifestyle and diet that I’ve been following with the program!  I have been learning the important of macro nutrients and eating the right proportions to better fuels my body.  2 things that I have incorporated into my diet over the past few months have been an increased amount of collagen and also bone broth!

I figured I would share with you why each of these is so healthy for the human body and offer one lucky reader a GIVEAWAY from Ancient Nutrition below!  You can get 20% off your first purchase with code “RANDA20” if you shop their website HERE.  If you are more of a “likes to shop in person” type of personality, Total Nutrition in College Station just picked up a similar line of collagen.  You can get 30% off your purchase there by mentioning my name!

First let’s talk Collagen!  What is it and why is it so important?  1.  It’s the most abundant protein found in our bodies.  It’s one of the most vital proteins our body needs to function.  Collagen is the glue that holds our body together, as it maintains the structure of our skin, tissue, bones, tendons and other connective tissues.  Collagen also sends out signals to our cells that can combat inflammation and repair damaged cells.  One of the main reasons why I have started implementing collagen into my daily diet is the fact that OUR COLLAGEN PRODUCTION DECLINES NATURALLY AS WE GET OLDER!

When collagen is consumed, there are many health benefits that our bodies will see!  This includes benefiting our brain health (it helps protect again Alzheimer’s Disease), heart health (it can lower cholesterol and prevent against heart disease) and digestive system (It can help with IBS and Leaky Gut Syndrome).  Since Collagen makes up our connective tissue, it can also help to easy joint pain as we get older or worry about injury from training.  Along with connective tissue protection and pain, it can help lower back pain.  One of my personal favorite benefits from adding collagen into my diet is it improves skin elasticity!

Now let me talk about bone broth!  Bone broth is something I use in my diet because 1) it doesn’t peak insulin and 2) it is an incredible source of collagen.  It tastes very similar to a chicken or beef broth.  I drink it by itself, use it in my slow cooker recipes and stews, and even use the tasteless bone broth protein from Ancient Nutrition almost every day.  It is not a low calorie product, but it is a nutrient packed product that my body benefits from! I felt so stupid when I first got this product because I just mixed it with water and it tasted horribly!  Well now I know to mix it with my hot tea or in my flavored drinks or protein shakes, and you get the extra collagen and protein benefits without any taste.  I am still learning things to sprinkle this stuff on!

Ancient Nutrition collagen products are some of my fave.  They are non GMO super food powders made from real bone broth. Today I will be giving away an Ancient Nutrition Tasteless Bone Broth Protein ($45 value) and an Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth Collagen Vanilla Flavor ($38 value).  Ancient Nutrition is also offering my readers 20% off their first purchase with code RANDA20.  You can shop their entire site HERE.
