Something that I saw today from one of my favorite lifestyle bloggers of all time – Mallory Ervin – was a post about being equal to her followers. It hit super hard with me and I agree with her, so I wanted to share with all of you!
As stated in her instagram post today:
“Let’s get something clear…you and me, we are equal, the same, “friends”. I am not above you or too fancy for you or better than a single one of you in any way. And I want everyone to know that.
Hearing stories about influencers acting too good for their followers or smaller bloggers makes me want to run through a wall.
What is this business of being an influencer if we lose this? We are real people, that’s why you follow us right?
Never in my life will I make a person feel below me. Ever. If you see me on the street, you’d better say hello. And don’t you apologize for coming up. I am what I am as an influencer and able to do this because of YOU. Because YOU took the time to follow me, to watch my videos, to love my content. And for all of you I am so so so grateful.
I may have different shoes or a different vehicle or weaves on weaves but these are only things, never confuse those things with character. This is what I hope every person in this space really shows all of you. That’s the real influence we can have on the world.
I’m proud to be in this space. Your messages make me cry and I love sharing my content and life with you. I never want anyone in the world to ever feel less than, and hearing stories of people in my industry and other industries doing this makes me so sad. Every human on this earth is equal. May we all strive to make others feel better about themselves. Don’t waste your life away trying to make people feel like they’re below you or trying to make yourself feel better than everyone around you.
It ain’t gonna count in the end.”- Mallory Ervin
I have followed Mallory since she was just engaged. She had a dreamy fairytale wedding, adores her precious husband, and now has the cutest little baby boy. Her positive outlook on life and her energy is truly contagious. I agree with her words in every way and highly recommend you give her a follow too if you love following me for these kinds of reasons.
Yesterday at the Aggie Game I got to meet so many of you. I think it was the first time that over a dozen of you came up to introduce yourselves to me! I love every minute of engaging with y’all and LOVE when you do that. Don’t say “This may sound weird” or feel intimidated because I am HERE to share my life and engage with each of you. What point is engaging with y’all online if I don’t follow through the same way in real life when we see each other?
The best part about influencers in my mind is their voice they have with their followers. In the past everyone looked up to celebrities, but they didn’t high a high engagement rate back with their fans. Modern day bloggers communicate, encourage and influence their followers and SHOULD answer and engage back with them. I read something a while back that said, “Do not do the envious type of stuff.” And this goes on either end. Do not allow someone to make you feel envious and do not do things to purposely make others feel envious. That is NOT true influence. And do not worry if your photos don’t receive thousands of likes because many Instagram accounts pay for followers and likes. It’s the REAL followers that matter!
I want to encourage each of you to look on the brighter side of things and to understand that mindset is so powerful. I want to encourage you to love your spouse, family and friends as much as possible. I want you to focus on your own health and fitness. I want to encourage you to chase your own dreams. I want you to feel super confident in your own skin. And I plan on doing this with my own actions and lifestyle. I’m not going to encourage you to lift weights if I’m not in the gym doing it every day myself. Of course I love when you purchase from me, but I know that not all of you are. That is ok. But I do hope that I make all of you see the world in a more positive light. Because amongst all the negative in our world, life still is a pretty magical thing that we all get the opportunity to live!
To all my followers (those of 10 years and those who also just found me): Thank you for choosing to follow me! Thank you for keeping up with my life. Please continue to engage with me. I know there are times I have to shy away from DM’s, but please if you see me in public come up to me and introduce yourself. I love meeting my kind of people!
To newer bloggers: Please covet your precious followers in your influencing career. You are not defined by the amount of followers you have. Anyone has the chance to grow and create their own space and community on the internet. Keep your hustle alive! You don’t need fancy photos or a perfect aesthetic to have influence. One of the best performing things I have posted in a while was a 9 year old photo taken on the iPhone 3 this week in my story. I’ll share it below again with each of you. Always feel free to share your social media/blog below so I can check you out!
This photo was from my Southern Jewlz kiosk in the Post Oak Mall in the Fall of 2009. It was the first time I could afford my own custom bags. I was beaming with pride and joy! This little kiosk was open 88 hours a week and I would legit have to ask the security cops to watch it so I could run to the restroom.
To OG/Big time bloggers who have this same mindset: Please keep it up! I love following YOUR kind! Because those who have made it big time and still stay true to their roots and understand that every follower matters are the real MVP’s!
I know this can seem as a little more heated of a blog post than most of mine, but I mean it outof love, appreciation and even protection over my followers! I want you all to be treated as you should BOTH Online and in real life!
I would love to hear your comments below! Cheers to a positive week babes!
Oh and please be sure you’re following @randacarrabbathelabel on Instagram to see what’s coming next!!!
